Write Away

Today's Goal: Practice three different ways that we can analyze our evidence while writing our expository essay outlines

The Plan:

Book Love Reading
Look at evidence and analysis writing
WRITE (while I work with as many students as possible)

Expository Essay Resources:
Most of this will be on the assignment I have sent you in Google Classroom, since that is where you will access your draft document, but I will link it here, too!

Work on your Research Essay Outline!

Complete Outline Draft due on Tuesday.

If you decide to resubmit your research notes, you must send me a polite, professional email about the matter, AFTER you have revised them, and ask for a regrade. I will need them by TODAY, March 25.

Gradebook Explained

My grade book is on School Loop for you to view. There are some things you need to know that will hopefully clarify possible confusion.

M = Minimum Grade, and may not be made up. An M is worth 30% of the total points available for an assignment, and is given to smaller assignments when not completed by the due date. This is a department criteria and policy.

Blank scores mean I have not graded it yet; there is no reason to panic.

Zeroes are the most concerning. These occur when students do not turn in assignments that they are expected to submit. Regardless of when it is due, students are expected to complete the assignment, and will receive credit according to department policy. For example, if a student is absent, and a zero is recorded, that should not indicate to the student that the assignment is unable to be submitted. If, though, it was turned in late, there is a likelihood of receiving Minimum (but still partial!) Credit, as department policy dictates that we do not accept late work.

Please remember: regardless of what is currently recorded, grades are not always permanent.

Sometimes a score given on a minor assignment is not ideal. For students willing to put in the work, they are welcome to talk with me about redoing certain assignments.
