What's the mood of this scene? |
Today's Goal: Practice identifying the
mood of a scene in
Of Mice and Men, followed by a partner two-chunk paragraph.
The Plan:
- Read a short passage from Chapter 3.
- Write a two-chunk paragraph.
MOOD: the feeling or atmosphere that is created for the audience. Mood refers to how the reader is supposed to feel when reading, watching, or listening to a text. The character might be happy, but that doesn't necessarily mean the audience is supposed to feel happy, too.
You might start your paragraph with a sentence that looks like this one:
In the scene where ______________, Steinbeck creates a __________ mood through his effective use of _________ and __________.
