The Victim Speaks

Today's Goal: Continue our analysis of the events leading up to Tom Robinson's trial based on the witness testimony provided.

The Plan:

Book Love!
Read (and REREAD) Chapter 18, paying close attention to the witness testimony of Mayella Ewell.
Start Chapter 19 if we have time (we might).

Homework/Important Dates:

Read Chapter 19 tonight (Trust me, it helps).

Finish Evidence Tracker for HECK TATE and BOB EWELL and MAYELLA EWELL

Your evidence tracker is due on WEDNESDAY, May 4.
VIV/VIT Vocab Practice is due on WEDNESDAY, May 4.
Chapter 17-21 Quiz on THURSDAY, May 5
Your Vocab Quiz will happen on Friday, May 6 (This Friday)

Gradebook Explained

My grade book is on School Loop for you to view. There are some things you need to know that will hopefully clarify possible confusion.

M = Minimum Grade, and may not be made up. An M is worth 30% of the total points available for an assignment, and is given to smaller assignments when not completed by the due date. This is a department criteria and policy.

Blank scores mean I have not graded it yet; there is no reason to panic.

Zeroes are the most concerning. These occur when students do not turn in assignments that they are expected to submit. Regardless of when it is due, students are expected to complete the assignment, and will receive credit according to department policy. For example, if a student is absent, and a zero is recorded, that should not indicate to the student that the assignment is unable to be submitted. If, though, it was turned in late, there is a likelihood of receiving Minimum (but still partial!) Credit, as department policy dictates that we do not accept late work.

Please remember: regardless of what is currently recorded, grades are not always permanent.

Sometimes a score given on a minor assignment is not ideal. For students willing to put in the work, they are welcome to talk with me about redoing certain assignments.
